Can a foreigner buy an apartment in Poland?

Yes, an apartment can be bought without a permit. An MSWiA permit is needed for plots and houses with land, with some exceptions.

What are the additional costs?

PCC tax (on the secondary market), the notary, the entry in the księga wieczysta and bank fees.

How long does the purchase take?

With a mortgage, usually 2–3 months from choosing the property.

Does a foreigner pay PCC tax when buying a first apartment?

On the secondary market, PCC is 2% of the price. If this is your first home and you have never owned an apartment or house before, you can use the exemption. We will check whether you qualify.

Do I need a residence card to buy an apartment?

No, you can buy an apartment without a residence card. But for a mortgage, banks usually require legal stay and income in Poland.
