Do I need to take a driving test (theory and practice)?

In most cases — no. For citizens of Ukraine, Belarus and other non-European countries who are legally staying in Poland, the exchange takes place without exams. We will check in advance whether an exchange is possible in your particular situation.

How legal is this procedure?

The procedure is fully legal and regulated by the Polish Road Traffic Act («Prawo o ruchu drogowym»), international conventions (Vienna and Geneva) and bilateral agreements between Poland and your country.

How long does the process take?

Once the documents are fully prepared and submitted to the transport department, producing the licence takes 4–6 weeks. Correctly prepared documents help avoid delays caused by mistakes.

What documents are needed?

The basic set: a valid national driving licence; a document confirming legal stay in Poland (residence card, PESEL UKR, visa — if you don't have legal status, we'll help); a sworn translation of the licence (not in all cases). We'll help you prepare all additional documents by the submission date.

What if my licence has already expired?

This makes the procedure much more difficult: in most cases an expired licence cannot simply be exchanged, and you may need to take exams. We recommend starting the exchange before the expiry date. If your licence has already expired, contact us and we will analyze your options.

Why can the price be higher than 1800 zł?

1800 zł is the simplest case. Old-style, laminated licences, licences missing from the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, licences with errors or two-year licences require additional steps. That's why we analyze each situation individually: at the first consultation, a specialist draws up an action plan and gives you the price.

Will my old licence be taken away?

Yes, your national licence will be withdrawn. Under Polish law you cannot hold two driving licences at the same time.

The main risks: refusal due to mistakes in the application or due to a request to the consulate to confirm the authenticity of the licence; time lost on numerous visits (registered address, translator, Starostwo, wrong photo format); the language barrier; not knowing the nuances of the procedure for your country.
